PORT ANGELES — With Sequim city leaders weighing in their support, Clallam County commissioners moved closer Monday to expanding the county Board of Health to seven members.
The commissioners, who act concurrently as the three-member Board of Health, heard Sequim Mayor Pro Tem John Beitzel discuss the proposal.
The Sequim City Council on Jan. 21 unanimously endorsed a health board that would have one elected council member representing the three cities in the county.
The commissioners still must determine from which city council — Port Angeles, Sequim or Forks — a board member would be appointed.
As proposed, the county commissioners would also appoint an elected board member from one of the county’s two hospitals, Olympic Memorial or Forks Community. Two other at-large county residents would round out the panel.
