PORT ANGELES — For the first time in history, the Clallam County Sheriff’s Department will provide 24-hour patrol coverage from Fairholm and Twin River east to the Jefferson County line.
The expansion, announced Tuesday by Sheriff Joe Martin, does not include the West End west of Fairholm Hill and Twin Rivers.
Martin said the county’s West End will continue to have 17- to 18-hour coverage.
“There’s no way” he can staff the area around the clock, the sheriff said.
