Clallam to view Field Hall funding; Jefferson conducts workshop

Government meetings across North Olympic Peninsula

Local government agencies will meet next week on the North Olympic Peninsula.

Clallam County

The three Clallam County commissioners will consider an informal request from the leadership of the Field Arts and Events Hall for an allocation of American Rescue Plan Act funding in their weekly work session at 9 a.m. Monday.

At the Monday workshop, commissioners will preview items set for action at their formal meeting, which starts at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

• A report on the 2022 Clallam County Fair.

• A request to approve a purchase order of $59,146 for VMWare license renewals.

• A briefing on a strategy to manage Park, Fair and Facility Department fees by using the Consumer Price Index.

• A briefing from Clair Dunlap of the North Olympic Library System on the inaugural Clallam County Poet Laureate program.

• An interlocal agreement with the city of Port Angeles for stream water quality monitoring through 2026.

• An amendment to the contract with Washington Recreation and Conservation for an additional $2,800,000 for construction of the lower Dungeness floodplain restoration project for a total of $8,846,868.

• An inter-agency agreement with the Department of Commerce for an additional $226,563 in funding for Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team expenses for the period from July 1, 2022 through Sept. 30, 2023.

• An inter-agency agreement with the state Traffic Safety Commission for $27,000 in support of Target Zero priorities designed to reduce traffic crashes.

• Continued discussion on hiring incentives for the sheriff’s office.

• A call for a public hearing at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, on an ordinance to repeal county code chapter 7.01 “Junk Dealers — Secondhand Dealers.”

• A call for a public hearing at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25 on a resolution to vacate a county right-of-way on platted Hazel Street.

• A call for a public hearing at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11 on proposed changes to Policy 220 — Classification, Work Hours and Compensation.

• A discussion of the board’s representation on the Washington State Association of Counties’ Legislative Steering committee and its Federal Issues and Relations committee.

• Several items related to the Carlsborg water rights project.

Jefferson County

The three Jefferson County commissioners will conduct a workshop regarding a proposed ordinance on legal lots of record when they meet at 9 a.m. Monday.

• A resolution to inactivate fund 181, the Jefferson County Emergency Road Reserve Fund.

• An amended agreement with Kitsap Public Health District for an additional $70,000 in funding to develop and implement strategies to prevent or intervene in tobacco, vapor and marijuana product use by youths.

Association of counties

The Washington State Association of Counties will hear a weekly update on COVID-19 when they meet at noon Monday.

Both Clallam and Jefferson counties will participate.

Clallam planning commission
