Against the wishes of two commissioners who represent Clallam County on Clallam Transit System’s board, Transit General Manager Dan Di Guilio was given a 5 percent pay raise Monday.
The Clallam Transit board voted 6-2 to give Di Guilio a two-step raise, bringing his annual salary to $92,272, an increase of more than $4,000 from $87,826.
Voting against the pay increase were Clallam County Commissioners Mike Chapman, R-Port Angeles, and Mike Doherty, D-Port Angeles, who sit on the transit board.
The split decision came after the board convened in executive session for nearly an hour Monday to give Di Guilio his annual salary review.
“I just don’t think it’s appropriate to give a substantial pay raise at this time,” Chapman said.
“It’s hard to justify.”
