Port Angeles and Sequim were back online Saturday following a communications outage that affected phone and Internet service in the region.
Long-distance phone service, Internet access, cell phones, automatic banking machines and other services relying on a Qwest Communications fiber optic line were affected when a large truck struck the aerial cable on West Sequim Bay Road early Friday afternoon.
The outages started at about 12:30 p.m., and all service was restored by about 6:30 p.m. Friday, Qwest Spokesman Michael Dunne said Saturday.
Some customers had their services returned as early as about 3:30 p.m. as Qwest technicians spliced together the first of four fiber cables that were affected, Dunne said.
