PORT ANGELES — Clallam County Undersheriff Dan Engelbertson has officially applied for the county’s top administrative position.
County Human Resources Director Marge Upham said Engelbertson’s application arrived Friday. He is the first to apply for the job.
A search within county employee ranks is under way for County Administrator Jim Rumpeltes’ replacement.
Rumpeltes leaves May 15 to start as one of two assistant city managers for the city of Surprise, Ariz. Rumpeltes resigned last month following negotiations with Clallam County commissioners to extend his contract two years — with no pay increases.
Rumpeltes is being paid $89,120 annually after 15 years in the position.
The next county administrator will be paid a maximum of $85,000 annually.
