Clallam County Commissioner Steve Tharinger is in remission from the lymphoma for which he has been treated since October 2004.
The Dungeness Democrat shared the news Tuesday.
Tharinger, 56, said he had undergone 60 days of chemotherapy. His doctor told him, “You”re kind of a toxic waste site” from the cancer-killing chemicals, he said.
Tharinger initially underwent chemotherapy last fall and winter, and then another regimen late last summer, followed by a stem-cell transplant.
Except for missing most meetings in September, he maintained his public schedule.
