BRINNON – A Colorado man died after the small car he was driving slammed into a motor home on U.S. Highway 101 near Brinnon Friday afternoon.
The collision, which occurred at 2:30 p.m., hindered traffic on the highway for four hours. Both lanes were blocked and traffic was detoured.
The closure was about two miles north of the line of Mason and Jefferson counties.
Timothy Huff, 54, of Grand Junction, Colo., was driving southbound in his 1988 Mercury Tracer, said the State Patrol.
The Mercury crossed the centerline and struck a 2001 National motor home headed northbound.
Huff died at the scene.
No one else was injured.
The State Patrol said Huff was traveling too fast for conditions as he rounded a corner to the right.
The motor home was being driven by 53-year old Richard Donovan, with 48-year-old Charlotte Donovan as a passenger.
Both are from Snohomish.
A third vehicle, a 2005 Jeep Wranger, was being towed by the motor home.
It was damaged but able to be driven, the State Patrol said.
