PORT TOWNSEND – Washington State Ferries staffers will host a public hearing Tuesday night on a new fare-increase proposal and on a pilot program to allow ferry reservations on the Port Townsend-Keystone route.
The ferry system’s 2007-08 tariff proposal includes a 4 percent increase in general fares.
The proposal also includes a slight change in the peak-season oversize-vehicle fare calculation and continuation of a discount program for nonprofit organizations.
Tuesday’s meeting will be held in The Commons’ Company B room at Fort Worden State Park from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
It is one of 11 meetings scheduled in communities served by the ferry system.
Those unable to attend the meeting can comment on the proposal via e-mail, at tariff@wsdot.wa.gov; by fax, 206-515-3773; by phone, 888-808-7977; or mail: Tariff Proposal, Washington State Ferries, 2901 Third Ave., Suite 500, Seattle, WA 98121-3014.
