PORT TOWNSEND – The Jefferson County Economic Development Council board is expected to approve a contract Nov. 15 allowing the nonprofit job-creating organization to recruit aviation-related business to Jefferson County International Airport.
Port of Port Townsend executives said an agreement, recently given the port commissioners’ nod, was forwarded to the EDC for final acceptance.
The port owns and operates the airport, which has a single 3,000-foot runway four miles south of Port Townsend.
The port has paid EDC $5,000 in advance, and EDC Executive Director Ian McFall has already made some contacts, he said Thursday.
“We’ve had two inquiries so far,” said McFall.
They include Jefferson County interests, he said.
Lawrence Graves, EDC board president, and McFall said they believed the board will approve the contract with the port.
