PORT ANGELES — Scott Buck, a 25-year Navy enlisted man and officer, will be Clallam County’s new Veterans Assistant.
“I hope to be one of the focal points of veterans service,” he said Wednesday.
Bill Minor, chairman of the county Veterans Association and one of the people who chose Buck, said, “I think we’re to be congratulated on having Scott. He’s experienced in the areas that we want.”
A five-person team chose Buck from a field of 17 applicants, 10 of whom were interviewed because they were veterans.
The interviews were conducted Monday by Marjorie Upham, county personnel director; Mike McEvoy, veterans employment specialist for WorkSource; Minor, commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1024 and head of the vets association; Tammy Davidson, county veterans coordinator; and county Commissioner Mike Doherty, D-Port Angeles.
