PORT HADLOCK — A wreck between two pickup trucks near the Hood Canal Bridge on Saturday resulted in the medical evacuation of a Sequim man to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Leslie E. Letterman, 65, was airlifted to Harborview when he was injured after he failed to stop at about 3:19 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Paradise Bay Road and state Highway 104 and collided with another pickup truck, State Trooper Christopher Moon reported.
Harborview representatives did not return calls Sunday.
Letterman was driving a black 2001 Nissan pickup traveling southbound on Paradise Bay Road approaching Highway 104, according to Moon’s report.
William C. Wells, 68, of Port Ludlow was driving a red 1995 Dodge pickup traveling westbound on Highway 104 approaching Paradise Bay Road.
Letterman failed to stop at a stop sign, and the two vehicles collided in the westbound lane, Moon said.
Letterman’s Nissan pickup continued onto the eastbound shoulder and struck an embankment.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts, and it is not known whether alcohol or drugs were involved.
Letterman will be cited for failure to yield the right away, according to the report.
