JOYCE — Crescent School District will welcome former students, staff and teachers to its centennial celebration from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
The entire campus, at 50350 state Highway 112, will be open for tours. There will be a program featuring a history of the district, as well as live music, a free taco bar and a gathering at the Crescent Grange afterward.
Had the birthday fallen during the COVID-19 lockdown, the event might not have happened, said Superintendent David Bingham.
“We were prepared for that to happen,” said Bingham, who began as a social studies teacher 38 years ago and is entering his sixth year as superintendent.
“This is a good chance for people to see the recent remodeling of the school, and they are going to have an opportunity to share their memories,” he said.
Here is the schedule:
• 2 p.m.: Campus buildings open to the public for tours by ASB officers.
• 3 p.m.: Program begins in the gym, where the public is encouraged to share stories of the district.
• 4 p.m.: Live music by Luck of the Draw band and free taco bar in the cafeteria.
• 5 p.m.: After-event at the Crescent Grange, 50724 Highway 112.
