PORT ANGELES — An investigation into a small brush fire burning off Bagley Creek Road likely will begin in the coming days to determine whether it was human-caused.
Crews from Clallam County Fire District Nos. 2 and 3 fought a small brush fire off South Bagley Creek Road and had it about 90 percent contained as of 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, said Patrick Young, Fire District No. 3 spokesman.
Firefighters got the call about the roughly 200-foot-by-300-foot fire at about 12:47 p.m., Young said.
It took 15 to 20 minutes to get to it because of the distance from the road.
The fire was burning grass, brush and some timber about 1 mile south of the intersection of South Bagley Creek Road and U.S. Highway 101, Young said.
The blaze threatened only an abandoned cabin, which crews were able to protect, Young added.
Young said Tuesday afternoon a cause of the fire had yet to be determined, and an investigation would follow.
