WENATCHEE — Crews today suspended the search for a plane bound for Sequim missing since July 23.
Pilot Ed Jeffko left Tonasket early last Monday in his home-built aircraft and was expected to land in Sequim. Family members notified emergency services when the pilot did not arrive as scheduled.
Since Monday, crews have searched areas in the North Cascades, Winthrop, Stevens Pass and Stampede Pass, and flown more than 200 hours. No emergency beacon was located to aid in the search.
Washington State Department of Transportation Aviation Emergency Services coordinated the search. Searchers from WSDOT, the Civil Air Patrol and Washington Air Search and Rescue worked out of a search base at the Wenatchee Airport.
Department of Natural Resources, Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office , Douglas County Fire and Red Cross also supported the mission.
