PASCO — Port Townsend junior Ryan Clarke placed fifth in the 1A boys state cross country meet at Sun Willows Golf Course
Clarke, who won the Olympic League championship, finished the state meet in 16 minutes and 21 seconds.
Northwest’s Graham Peet is the 1A boys state champion with a time of 15:53, followed closely by Andrew Ayers of King’s with a time of 15:53.
Places three through five were all within eight seconds of each other: Ryan Coffman of Lakeside was third (16:13), Northwest’s Tibebu Proctor (16:16) was fourth, and then Clarke.
In the girls 2A race, Olympic League-champion Port Angeles finished 13th.
Burlington-Edison’s RaynJoy Norton won the state title with a time of 17:58.16.
Sehome took the team title, thanks in part to the second- and third-place finishes of Emily Pittis and Ellie Rowan-Arnett.
Senior Elizabeth Stevenson was the Roughriders’ top finisher, taking 65th out of 143 runners with a time of (20:36.70).
Sophomore Willow Suess took 84th (20:58.72), Annika Pederson 95th (21:18.42), Jolene Millsap 97th (21:21.66), Dove Lucas 104th (21:30.10), Taylor Jones 117th (22:02.05) and Astrid Schick 138th (24:11.67).
