PORT TOWNSEND — The president of embattled Security Services Northwest vowed to abide by the county’s stop work order, which forbids shooting on the site, and said that no shooting is occurring at his Discovery Bay location.
“We alone have the most to lose if we were to defy the stop work order,” said Joe D’Amico, who was responding to county building and law enforcement officials who posted stop-work “red tags” and “do not occupy” signs on buildings affected by the county order.
“It’s business as usual,” said D’Amico, who is still allowed to run his administrative offices on the Discovery Bay Land Co. site near the western shore of Discovery Bay.
“Nothing has changed on site.”
D’Amico said he was perplexed as to why county officials posted the signs on the property last week, but he allowed them to do so just the same.
County Building Official Fred Slota, Code Compliance Officer Molly Pearson and Sheriff’s Office Code Enforcement Officer Tony Hernandez met with D’Amico and posted the signs on the buildings.
The stop-work order notices and do not occupy signs were posted last Wednesday on buildings that county officials deemed are without permits.
