PORT ANGELES — The Clallam County Fair will be packed with action today, the last day of its four-day run.

Tickets go on sale at 9 a.m. at the yellow gate entrance to the fairgrounds at 1608 W. 16th St., for the Demolition Derby, which will roar at the grandstand beginning at 5 p.m.

Tickets to the derby cost $11 and are in addition to regular fair admission.

Today’s other grandstand event — the second day of rodeo, which begins at noon — is included in fair admission.

Admission for adults is $8, while senior citizens and students 13-17 pay $6 and children 5-12 pay $5.

Gates are open today from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Exhibit buildings will be open from 10 p.m. to 7 p.m. Carnival rides will thrill fairgoers from noon to 7 p.m.

Royal court

Ruling over the fair this year is the royal court.

Jena Chamberlin, 17, was crowned queen Thursday night and will be awarded a $500 scholarship.

The Lincoln High School junior, the daughter of Frank and Karla Chamberlin, plans to attend the Oregon Coast Culinary Institute and become a chef.

Nichole Napiontek, a 16-year-old Port Angeles High School sophomore, is the fair princess.

She will be awarded a $400 scholarship.

Nichole, the daughter of Mark and Mary Napiontek, plans either to attend the Art Institute of Seattle for graphic design and fashion or join the Navy.

At noon today, Port Angeles Light Opera Association members will perform selections from “South Pacific” at the Wilder Stage.

That stage also will be the venue for the second annual Clallam County Fair Variety and Talent Show at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Musical performances are planned at the Sunny Farms Stage, with James Gregory performing at 11 a.m. and Hazelnut Grove at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Kiss a pig

By 1:30 p.m. today, a localveterinarian will have won the chance to kiss a pig in the swine and sheep area.

The contest, in which the veterinarian with the most money donated in his or her name wins, raises funds for scholarships for graduating 4-H members.

At the Kidz Zone, the pedal-powered Tractor Pull will be at 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. today.

Today’s full schedule of events is available at www.clallam.net/fair.
