SEQUIM — A Sequim man was reported in serious but stable condition early this morning (Friday) after a Clallam County Sheriff’s deputy revived him following his collapse.
Darrel Brewer, 67, collapsed while setting out to fish for crabs Thursday evening.
He had no pulse, the sheriff’s office said, and was revived by Deputy Mark Millet who performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Brewer’s friend, David Johnson, credits Millet with saving Brewer’s life, the sheriff’s office said.
Millet responded to an “unresponsive male call” at the old Oyster House boat launch off Marine Drive in the Dungeness area at 7 p.m. Thursday, said Sgt. Randy Pieper of the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office in a prepared statement.

Millet arrived to find Brewer lying near the water being attended to by three men, including Brewer’s friend, Johnson, 62, also of Sequim.
Brewer appeared to have had a heart attack.
The men were attempting to perform CPR. Millet took over and revived Brewer.
Clallam County Fire District 3 volunteers and medics arrived and assisted Millet.
They took Brewer to Olympic Medical Center, where he was reported in serious but stable condition.
Johnson was in the process of launching his boat to go crabbing with Brewer, who was in the water with his chest waders on.
Brewer fell face down into the water. Johnson pulled him onto the boat ramp and began doing chest compressions after not finding a pulse. Millet arrived and revived him.
