PORT ANGELES – An elderly man was found dead of a knife wound after a report of an assault at a Port Angeles house Saturday night.
“There was an assault that occurred here, but we’re still trying to figure out exactly what happened,” said Sgt. Glen Roggenbuck of the Port Angeles Police Department, shortly after the house at 317 E. 11th St. was marked off with yellow crime scene tape.
Police took a young woman with blood on her face and legs to Olympic Medical Center, Roggenbuck said.
“She has a lot of blood on her,” he said.
She did not have any obvious injuries when she was taken to the hospital.
Neither the deceased man’s name nor the name of the woman taken from the residence were released by police on Saturday.
Detectives expected to get a search warrant to enter the house and continue their homicide investigation there on Saturday night.
The woman taken by police had called 9-1-1 at about 7:40 p.m. to report an assault involving a knife.
Police officers arrived with their guns drawn, neighbors said, and called for an ambulance soon after arriving.
The woman was handcuffed, interviewed and then taken to the hospital in a police car without incident, Roggenbuck said.
Neighbors said they did not hear or see anything unusual until police arrived.
They declined to provide their names.
No one else was in the home when police arrived, Roggenbuck said.
