DISCOVERY BAY — A popular Jefferson County roadside attraction is getting a facelift thanks to its new owners.
Earney and Schen Callahan purchased Eaglemount Rockeries at 1822 Highway 20 a couple of months ago.
But already, they’ve given many of the buildings on the property, including an old gas station that sits out front, a fresh coat of paint and a new lease on life.
More than 50 exhibits get freshened up next, Callahan said Tuesday.
Build up of the site started in 1948, when the Wolfer family began making concrete creations to decorate the site.
It started with small cottages and lighthouses to decorate a pond in the front yard of their home.
Then came castles and life-sized people.
Then there were pioneer buildings including a schoolhouse, cabin, blacksmith and jail.
