CARLSBORG — The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office captured two dogs today that may be responsible for killing a llama and two sheep on Joslin Road early this morning.
A third sheep, which was near death after also being attacked this morning, was shot by a sheriff’s deputy at the request of its owner.
Deputy Andrew Wagner said a state Fish and Wildlife officer told him the animals were likely killed by dogs, and not a cougar, based on their wounds.
Animal Control Deputy Tracey Kellas said she could not confirm if the dogs, a white pit bull and a black great Dane, attacked the animals since they didn’t have any wool in their tooth or any bloodstains.
But she said the great Dane is known to have killed another llama previously in the Port Angeles city limit.
The dogs were captured after a Joslin Road resident phoned 9-1-1 after she couldn’t get them to leave her property.
