PORT ANGELES — A large red, white and blue sign supporting troops in the war with Iraq is gaining attention.
About 50 people have written well-wishes or soldiers’ names on the painted plywood sign since John McNew erected it in his front yard near Shane Park more than a week ago.
“It seems to be catching on,” McNew said Saturday.
Three stenciled stars decorate the sign, with the name of Boe Caldwell — son of McNew and his wife, Hallie — written in the center of one of the stars.
