Drive One 4 Ur School set Sunday at Port Angeles High School

The test-drives are free to participants; Price Ford will donate $20 per vehicle to the high school program.

PORT ANGELES — Drive One 4 Ur School, Price Ford’s fundraiser for the Port Angeles High School orchestra, is Sunday.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Price Ford will offer test-drives of a new Ford vehicle at Port Angeles High School, 304 E. Park Ave.

The test-drives are free to participants; Price Ford will donate $20 per vehicle to the high school program.

The goal is to raise $8,000, according to David Price, owner of Price Ford, 3311 E. U.S. Highway 101, Port Angeles.

“We are very excited and honored that Price Ford is willing to help us fundraise for our music program,” said Ron Jones, Port Angeles High School Orchestra director.

Said Price: “We are thrilled to be partnering with Port Angeles High School. It will be a great day of fun test-drives and no salespeople — all for a great cause.”

There will be no pressure to buy a vehicle, organizers said.

There is a limit of one test-drive per household. All drivers must be 18 or older and have a valid driver’s license and valid automobile insurance to test-drive. Car seats cannot be accommodated for this event.

“Price Ford has sponsored and raised over $50,000 for local high schools through Drive 4 Ur School events,” said Joel Elliott, event director.

Ford’s Drive One 4 UR School program began in 2007 and since then has sponsored 1,500 events in 49 states, raising more than $5 million for before- and after-school activities in high schools across the country. Locally, Price Ford has donated more than $30,000 to student groups at PAHS through its Drive One 4 UR School fundraisers.

Funds raised during the Drive One 4 UR School programs ensure extracurricular activities such as sports, music, career and technical education programs continue in local communities.

A 65-foot-long historic tug rests in the Port of Port Townsend Boat Haven Marina’s 300-ton marine lift as workers use pressure washers to blast years of barnacles and other marine life off the hull. The tug was built for the U.S. Army at Peterson SB in Tacoma in 1944. Originally designated TP-133, it is currently named Island Champion after going through several owners since the army sold it in 1947. It is now owned by Debbie Wright of Everett, who uses it as a liveaboard.
