PORT ANGELES — No injuries were reported after a car was destroyed in a weekend wreck on Black Diamond Road.
At 5:14 a.m. Sunday, witnesses reported an overturned 2004 Subaru WRX on Black Diamond Road, Clallam County Sheriff’s Sgt. Lyman Moores said Monday.
The car was northbound when it went into a ditch and overturned, landing on its hood in the northbound lane.
The male driver and female passenger climbed out of the car, and the man fled the scene, witnesses told sheriff’s deputies.
Responders from Clallam County Fire District No. 2 arrived on scene with a medic unit, a fire engine and a command vehicle.
Deputies identified the female passenger as Martha Barrera, owner of the Subaru.
Fire District No. 2 medics determined Barrera was not injured.
Her age and residence was not available Monday.
Barrera told officers that she only knew the driver as “Cory,” and offered no further information on how to contact him, Lyman said.
It was not known if the driver was injured.
There is no further investigation into the wreck, and deputies are not seeking the missing driver for charges, he said.
