Driver of car in New Year’s Eve crash that killed three captured near Los Angeles

A Sequim woman facing trial for vehicular homicide and vehicular assault charges in connection with a New Year’s Eve 2002 car crash was captured in southern California late Thursday.

Mary Kristine Knistern, 27, was arrested at 10:30 p.m. Thursday at a home in Buena Park, Calif. She is in custody at the Orange County Jail awaiting extradition to Clallam County to stand trial.

Killed in the crash were Aaron Gambell, 19, Heather Holden, 19, and Paul Boynton, 22, and injured were Stuart Bury, Courtney West and Knistern, who was driving her Saturn sedan with the five passengers inside.
