SHINE — Another daytime closure of the Hood Canal Bridge to test its new drawspan apparatus will be conducted this morning.
That’s in addition to possible closures of the bridge to permit drawspan openings for marine traffic as well as nighttime construction test closures. Those closures also are given no advance notice.
The state Department of Transportation has scheduled daytime closures at:
• 9 a.m. today.
• 11 a.m. Wednesday.
• 12:30 p.m. Thursday.
No daytime opening is scheduled for Friday or the weekend.
Each scheduled daytime closure lasts for about 40 minutes, but the delay for travelers can extend up to 90 minutes because of backed up traffic.
Nighttime test openings of the draw span, causing 90-minute closures, can be anytime from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. any weeknight and will continue through late February.
