SEQUIM — The Dungeness National Wildlife Refuge will conduct annual volunteer training in April — and now is the time to sign up.
The refuge will conduct its annual training for new U.S. Fish and Wildlife volunteers from 8 a.m. to noon Friday, April 11, at the Sequim Prairie Grange Hall, 290 Macleay Road west of Sequim.
Lunch will be provided from noon to 1 p.m.
An annual refresher course for current volunteers is set from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
New volunteer training is offered only once each year and is a requirement for volunteering at the Dungeness National Wildlife Refuge. Reservations are needed.
Primary volunteer duties include greeting visitors and providing details about the refuge’s trails and wildlife.
Additional opportunities include wildlife surveys, invasive-species mitigation, habitat restoration, maintenance, beach cleanup and administration.
For more information and to reserve a seat at the training, phone the refuge office at 360-457-8451 or email david_falzetti@fws.gov.
