PORT TOWNSEND — Local officials, business leaders and residents are banding together to improve sport fishing opportunities in east Jefferson County.
More than 100 people attended the inaugural meeting of the East Jefferson County chapter of Puget Sound Anglers on Saturday to pledge support for extending seasons and demanding better procedures for fisheries closures.
Group President Gary Hulsey said the organization was formed to provide a local voice into the fisheries process.
“Fisheries has an important impact on the community,” Hulsey said.
The group elected officers including Hulsey as president, Vern Garrison as vice president, Kathy McKenna as secretary, Eric Bulliman as treasurer and Wayne Chilsom and Andrew Denny as board members at large.
