Ediz Hook access to be blocked Friday night, Saturday

PORT ANGELES — Repair work on a small bridge near the Nippon Paper Industries USA mill will block access to Ediz Hook on Friday night and most of Saturday.

Port Angeles city officials announced the time schedule for the closure of Marine Drive/Ediz Hook Road starting at the Hill Street intersection.

It’s from 5:30 p.m. Friday until 6 p.m. Saturday.

Here is the memo distributed by City Hall this morning:

Repair to bridge abutments on Marine Drive at Nippon will require closing Marine Drive to through traffic at Hill Street from 5:30 p.m. on Friday, June 5th until approximately 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 6th.

Vehicles will not be able to access or depart Ediz Hook during this time. Please plan accordingly and leave the area prior to 5:30 Friday afternoon. Any remaining vehicles will be restricted to Ediz Hook until the work is finished. Ediz Hook will remain open to pedestrian and bicycle traffic via the Waterfront Trail.

While it is possible that repairs may take longer than anticipated, every effort will be made to complete this project on schedule.

Please drive safely and watch for construction vehicles and temporary traffic control personnel and signage.

Our goal is to complete the project safely with minimal inconvenience to the public. Your understanding and patience is appreciated.
