BLYN — An electrical fire forced the evacuation of a Blyn mobile home early Friday, Clallam County Fire District No. 3 Chief Steve Vogel said.
The homeowner awoke before 5 a.m. and detected the smell of smoke, Vogel said.
The man woke up his wife, turned off the electricity and phoned 9-1-1.
The couple could see flames coming from the crawl space as they waited outside.
Fire District No. 3 crews extinguished the blaze and determined that the cause was bad wiring.
Nothing was destroyed in the main structure of the 1970s mobile home, but the electrical system under the home needs to be replaced, Vogel said.
“If they didn’t wake up — mobile homes catch fire very quickly — they both could have died,” he said.
