SEQUIM — Elvis will appear Saturday in Tacoma and Puyallup.
“He’s all ready to go,” Sharon Cone said, describing the elk mounted on the Sequim Irrigation Festival float entered in the Daffodil Festival Parade.
Elvis will be making his 2001 parade season debut, along with newly crowned Irrigation Festival Queen Joelle Price and princesses Brittany Ohmert, Alicia Apple and Gioia Roldan-Shaw.
“It is actually one parade going through three cities,” said Cone, spokeswoman for the Sequim Ditchwalkers, builders of the annual Irrigation Festival float.
“The parade will begin at 10 a.m. in Tacoma,” she said. “When it is finished in Tacoma, everyone goes over to Puyallup.”
The Sequim entry will pass up the third leg through Orting.
The Puyallup segment is expecxted to begin between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.
Appearing with Elvis the elk on the float will be Harriet the heron, Squiggy the squirrel, and Hooter the owl.
“We let the girls in the royal court name the characters on the float each year,” Cone said. “Last year, we had Sassy the octopus.”
