TAHOLAH — The Quinault tribe says the Army Corps of Engineers patched the seawall at Taholah with 4,500 tons of rock.
The tribe declared an emergency last week and asked the corps for help after pounding waves breached the wall and destroyed a smokehouse and several outbuildings at the village on the Washington coast, about 30 miles north of Ocean Shores.
The emergency repair was completed Sunday, but the tribe said a more permanent solution is needed for protection from the encroaching Pacific Ocean.
