SHINE — A 71-year-old Everett woman died in a collision on state Highway 104 at 9:43 a.m. Thursday, according to the State Patrol.
Donna M. Haney was declared dead at the scene after she tried to pass a semi truck at milepost 13 as both traveled westbound in separate lanes, the State Patrol said.
Haney lost control of her Subaru, which struck the truck and came to rest in a ditch while the truck ended up on the right shoulder.
The truck driver, Steven D. Hess of Olympia, was not hurt, the State Patrol said.
Haney was not wearing a seatbelt; Hess was, State Patrol said.
The cause of the wreck was speed too fast for conditions, troopers said. Neither drugs nor alcohol were involved.
