SEQUIM — A second major retail development is being planned in the western part of the city.
An application for a shopping development on the south side of West Washington Street is expected to be delivered to the city Planning Department within the next couple of weeks.
Earlier this week, a Wal-Mart official confirmed that the company plans to build a superstore on the north side of West Washington Street.
On Wednesday, City Manager Bill Elliott and Planning Director Dennis Lefevre independently confirmed that plans are being developed for another shopping area south of Washington Street.
Elliott said the development will consist of more than one store.
“I’ve asked to not be told,” Elliott said, when asked if he knew the names of the stores.
Elliott said he expects the newest development to have a bigger impact than Wal-Mart because more than one store will be constructed.
