The Clallam County Board of Health will discuss face masks in public indoor settings Tuesday.

The meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. in Room 160 at the Clallam County Courthouse.

County commission

Clallam County commissioners will discuss a request to provide an additional $225,000 in federal COVID-19 assistance to a Clallam Bay food bank at a meeting that begins at 9 a.m. Monday.

The work session will be in the commissioners’ board room (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

Clallam County was awarded $15.02 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds for the COVID-19 pandemic.

The three commissioners had previously committed to spending $700,000 of the $15.02 million to support local food banks.

New Hope Food Bank in Clallam Bay, which was set to receive $50,000 of that allocation, has requested $275,000 in ARPA funding to purchase a former Bank of America building to move its operations, according to an executive summary.

There are “substantial safety issues” in the current building and the food bank is no longer able to meet the needs of the community, the summary read.

Other agenda items for the work session include:

• A Clallam County Broadband Team request to appoint Clallam County as the lead applicant for grant applications.

• A Treasurer’s Office request to hire a fiscal specialist.

• An agreement with the state Administrative Office of the Courts to support a Family and Juvenile Court improvement plan.

• An agreement with Children’s Home Society of Washington for the Parents for Parents Program.

• A resolution authorizing action on current use assessment applications.

• A resolution appointing Walter Morton to the Clallam Bay/Sekiu Community Action Team.

Commissioners will conduct their weekly business meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Action items include:

• A request for 2022 behavioral health proposals.

• An agreement with the state Department of Commerce for a victim witness assistance grant.

• A right-of-way agreement with Washington Farmland Trust for the Towne Road dike relocation project.

Port of Port Angeles

Port of Port Angeles commissioners will discuss the strategic plan and goals at a retreat from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday.

The meeting will be in the commissioners meeting room in the port administration building at 338 W. First St.

No formal action will be taken.

Peninsula College

Peninsula College trustees will interview presidential search firms during a special meeting at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

They will meet in room J-47 on the Peninsula College Port Angeles campus at 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd.

Attendees will be expected to wear a mask and complete a health attestation upon arrival.

The Sequim School Board will consider approving a 2021-22 budget with a general fund of $48.3 million when it meets at 6 p.m. Monday.

Board goals will be considered at a workshop meeting beginning at 5 p.m.
