EYE ON CLALLAM: County to consider interlocal law enforcement pact

The three Clallam County commissioners will consider an agreement with the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe for interlocal cooperative law enforcement and cross-deputization when they meet at 9 a.m. Monday.

Commissioners will meet in the commissioners’ boardroom (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

The usual Tuesday meeting has been canceled.

Commissioners also will discuss the draft 2020 budget, which is expected to be adopted Dec. 3. after hearings at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m., as well as taxing district budgets.

They will consider an agreement for the STOP (Services, training, officers and prosecutors) Violence Against Women Formula Grant.

Clallam Transit

Clallam Transit board members will consider a general manager employment agreement when they meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

The board will meet at 830 W. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.

It will hear a presentation on a proposed levy from Port Angeles School Superintendent Marty Brewer, discuss a possible acquisition at River Road for park and ride, and consider legislative priorities.

The board will discuss possible impacts of Initiative 976, which passed statewide in the general election.

Olympic Medical Center

Olympic Medical Center commissioners will consider adopting the 2020 budget and increasing the tax levy when they meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Commissioners will meet in Linkletter Hall in the basement conference area of the hospital at 939 Caroline St., Port Angeles.

They also will consider an Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act policy.

Port Angeles city

The Port Angeles City Council will conduct a public hearing on the proposed 2020 budget and property tax collection when it meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The meeting in council chambers at City Hall at 321 E. Fifth St., will be preceded by a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. for an executive session to consider the minimum price at which real estate will be offered and to discuss potential litigation.

The council also will hear a capital levy presentation by Port Angeles School Superintendent Marty Brewer, discuss a local options bill for tabulating votes and consider an amended Dry Creek water service agreement.

They also will consider contracts for wayfinding services, Elwha Water Facility professional services, Peabody Street sidewalk repair and Civic Field ADA access improvements, and renewal of Microsoft Enterprise licenses and subscription licenses.

Sequim schools

The Sequim School Board will consider policies on controversial speakers, weapons and sexual harassment of district staff — among others — when it meets at 6 p.m. Monday.

The board will meet at 503 N. Sequim Ave. With the work being done on Fir Street, parking at the high school is recommended.

The board will consider deleting or retiring 18 policies as per Washington State School Directors Association, and consider policies on waivers of high school graduation credits, school support organizations, leave sharing, student teachers, property and data management, school improvement plans and sick leave.

Library system

The North Olympic Library System board will conduct its second public hearing on the proposed 2020 operating budget when it meets at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

The board will meet at the Port Angeles Library at 2210 S. Peabody St..

Pool commission

The William Shore Memorial District commissioners will discuss the ongoing pool construction when they meet at 4 p.m. Monday.

Commissioners will meet in Room 160 at the county courthouse, 223 E. Forth St., Port Angeles.

Fire District 2

Clallam County Fire District No. 2 commissioners are scheduled to meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The meeting will be at 1212 E. First St., Port Angeles.

No agenda was available as of Saturday.
