EYE ON CLALLAM: Legislators to meet with Board of Health, school boards

The Clallam County Board of Health is scheduled to meet with state Reps. Mike Chapman, D-Port Angeles and Steve Tharinger, D-Port Townsend and state Sen. Kevin Van De Wege at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The virtual meeting can be viewed at www.clallam.net/features/meetings.html.

Topics will include public health, affordable housing, broadband access, health care integration, indigent defense and federal transportation funding, according to the agenda.

School districts

The Port Angeles School Board will host a special joint meeting with other Clallam County school boards and District 24 state legislators at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The meeting is open to the public. No action will be taken.

The meeting with Chapman, Tharinger and Van De Wege will include the legislative priorities of each district and feedback from the legislators.

Sequim schools

The Sequim School Board will consider administrator contracts when it meets at 6 p.m. Monday.

The regular meeting will be preceded by a workshop to train board members on new version of BoardDocs.

County commission

Clallam County commissioners will discuss a hiring freeze for COVID-19 and Charter Review Commission recommendations on the Department of Community Development and ranked choice voting at 9 a.m. Monday.

Commissioners will conduct a virtual business meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Action items include:

• A contract with Salish Behavioral Health Administrative Services Organization for substance use disorder outpatient services.

• A contract amendment with the state Department of Health for COVID-19 emergency language and community outreach services.

• An amended agreement amendment with Clallam Public Defender for representation of indigent defendants.

Planning Commission

The Clallam County Planning Commission will discuss the process and schedule for a stormwater ordinance update at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Public Utility District

Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners will consider approving the 2021 budget when they meet at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Port Angeles city

The Port Angeles City Council will discuss legislative priorities and receive a briefing on the Shoreline Master Program at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Other agenda items include a professional services agreement for wastewater planning and a city appointment to the Opportunity Fund Advisory Board.

Sequim city

The Sequim City Council will proclaim 2021 the Year of Kindness when it meets at 6 p.m. Monday.

The proclamation mentions stresses of 2020 and 2019 — a pandemic, election tension, the medication-assisted treatment clinic — and urges city and community members to practice kindness in the coming year.

It also will conduct public hearings on solid waste collection, a right of way dedication for Eagle Crest subdivision and amended council rules of procedure.

Forks city

The Forks City Council will consider the 2021 budget when it meets at 7:30 p.m. Monday.

The council also plans an executive session to “discuss legal risks of current or proposed action.”

Housing Authority

The Peninsula Housing Authority Board of Commissioners will consider an amendment to its annual plan at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Clallam County Fire District 3 commissioners will discuss the 2021-2024 collective bargaining agreement when they meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Olympic Medical Center

Olympic Medical Center commissioners will hear a report on the Sequim PET/CT remodel project when they meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
