Port Angeles City Council members will consider approval of a $13 million contract to begin work shifting buried garbage back from a failing bluff along the Strait of Juan de Fuca when they meet during a special meeting Tuesday.
The meeting will begin at 5 p.m. in council chambers at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St.
City staff shifted the $13.09 million contract with Magnus Pacific Corp. of Roseville, Calif., from last Tuesday’s council agenda because the second-lowest bidder on the project had protested it.
Council members also will discuss the city’s vision statement.
Clallam County
The three Clallam County commissioners will be briefed on state law concerning the legality of some models of off-road vehicles on county roads when they meet Monday.
The work session will begin at 9 a.m. in the commissioners’ boardroom (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
On Tuesday, commissioners will meet at 10 a.m. to open bids on a carpet replacement in the county treasurer’s office and call for bids to be received by June 10 for a segment of the Olympic Discovery Trail.
Sequim City Council
The Sequim City Council will consider approving a revision to the regulations of wall signs in the West Washington Street retail area when it meets Monday.
The council will meet at 6 p.m. at the Sequim Transit Center, 190 W. Cedar St.
It also will consider the next steps in a feasibility study for Guy Cole Center renovation and discuss economic development strategy.
Forks City Council
The Forks City Council will discuss a draft rewrite of the animal-control ordinances when it meets Monday.
The council will meet at 7:30 p.m. at 500 E. Division St.
It may recess into an executive session.
Port Angeles Utility Advisory Committee
Port Angeles Utility Advisory Committee members will consider proposed garbage pickup and Port Angeles Regional Transfer Station rate increases when they meet Tuesday.
The meeting will begin at 3 p.m. in City Council chambers at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St.
The committee, which makes recommendations to the Port Angeles City Council, will consider recommending setting a public hearing on the proposed increased for the May 20 council meeting.
The proposed increases would pay for, in part, the municipal bonds needed to fund the city’s effort to shift buried waste back from a failing bluff along the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
The proposed increases for 2015 include:
â– Weekly garbage pickup from $32.17 to $34.41 per month.
â– Every-other-week garbage pickup from $20.35 to $21.46 per month.
â– Per-ton transfer station tipping fees from $170.11 to $180.05.
Other agenda items include an interlocal agreement with the Olympic Memorial Hospital District and an energy efficiency program agreement amendment.
Port Angeles Planning Commission
The Port Angeles Planning Commission will discuss a proposed mixed-use commercial zoning overlay when it meets Wednesday.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in council chambers at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St.
The proposed overlay would allow alternative zoning regulations that permit and encourage design flexibility, according to city officials.
Commissioners also will hear a staff report on the final draft of a proposed street tree ordinance.
Port of Port Angeles
Port of Port Angeles commissioners will discuss applying for a grant to renovate the Boat Haven’s west boat launch when they gather Tuesday.
The meeting will be at 9 a.m. at the public meeting room in the port administrative building, 338 W. First St., Port Angeles.
The estimated cost of the boat launch project is $495,959, of which $371,000 would be paid through a grant from the Recreation and Conservation Office Boating Facilities Program and $123,000 would come from the port as a 25 percent match.
The port has budgeted $110,000 for the project in 2015.
The original ramp is more than 40 years old.
Commissioners also will be presented with a 2014 first-quarter capital projects report.
Carlsborg council
The Carlsborg Community Advisory Council will discuss frequently asked questions about the Carlsborg sewer facility plan Tuesday.
The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Sequim Valley Church of the Nazarene, 481 Carlsborg Road.
Other discussion items will include an on-site septic ordinance, sample connection costs and Carlsborg land-use community vision policies.
Conservation district
The Clallam Conservation District will discuss a construction contract for a fish passage project on Field Creek when it meets Tuesday .
The commissioners will meet at 3 p.m. at Armory Square, 228 W. First St., Port Angeles.
The project will entail replacement of a culvert with a bridge to aid fish passage.
Commissioners also will get an update on aquifer recharge projects and consider asset management policy.
