EYE ON CLALLAM: Sequim council to discuss MAT on Thursday

The Sequim City Council will discuss the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe’s proposed medication assisted treatment clinic at 3 p.m. Thursday.

The special meeting will be at the Sequim Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar Street.

The meeting will begin with a closed executive session and continue with an open session for council members to discuss items of importance to the community, including the medication assisted treatment (MAT) facility, according to a city announcement.

No public comment is scheduled for the meeting.

Clallam County

Clallam County commissioners will consider Tuesday an agreement with the Federal Highway Administration to construct an 11.5-mile segment of the Olympic Discovery Trail near state Highway 110 between Forks and La Push.

The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. in the commissioners’ boardroom (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

Other agenda items include:

• A letter to the state Department of Ecology in connection with Midway Metals and the permitting by Ecology of the unincorporated Port Angeles urban growth area.

• An amended right-of-way entry permit with Rayonier Operating Company, LLC.

Commissioners will conduct a work session at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

The courthouse will be closed Monday for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Discussion items for the work session include an agreement with Jefferson County for Shoreline Master Program monitoring, a resolution reappointing Roy Hellwig to the Building Code Board of Appeals and a monthly budget performance review.

Port Angeles city

The Port Angeles City Council will discuss a strategic plan at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The meeting will be in the City Council chambers at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth. St.

Other agenda items for the meeting include:

• A presentation on Port Angeles Harbor.

• A presentation on hazard mitigation.

• A discussion on Clallam Transit board compensation.

• Council appointments to boards, commissions and committees.

• A lease extension for a temporary light operations building.

• A contract award for a Laurel Substation electrical switchgear upgrade.

• A street vacation petition for a portion of K Street between Ninth Street and the Eighth/Ninth street alley.

• A first reading on authorization of a tax credit supporting affordable housing under House Bill 1406.

Olympic Medical Center

Olympic Medical Center commissioners will elect officers during a special meeting at 12:30 p.m. Monday.

The commissioners will meet in Linkletter Hall in the basement of the hospital at 939 E. Caroline St., Port Angeles.

They also will consider mending contract-signing authority and will meet in executive session to discuss buying real estate and the performance of a public employee.

Board of Health

The Clallam County Board of Health will discuss solid waste regulations at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The meeting will be in Room 160 at the Clallam County Courthouse.

Other agenda items include an update on Clallam Resilience Project, the election of a chair and vice chair and Board of Health priorities for 2020.

Sequim schools

The Sequim School Board will consider the superintendent’s contract when it meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The board will meet at 503 N. Sequim Ave.

It also will consider approval of the unrepresented salary schedule and district policy on public access to records.

Charter Review

The second meeting of the Charter Review Commission will be at 6 p.m. Thursday in Room 160 at the Clallam County Courthouse.

The after-hours entrance is off Fourth Street.

The panel will meet the second and fourth Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. at the courthouse.

Meetings are open to the public and will be livestreamed.

Library system

The North Olympic Library System Board of Trustees will consider approving a 2020 capital budget at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

The meeting will be at the Port Angeles Main Library, 2210 S. Peabody St., Port Angeles.

Other agenda items include a presentation on capital planning.

Fire District 3

Clallam County Fire District 3 commissioners will hear a report on risk reduction and planning when they meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

The meeting will be at station headquarters, 323 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim.

Agenda bills include a 2019 CERT report, a memorandum of understanding for wages in lieu of medical benefits, plus 2020 goals and tasks as well as 2020 budget workshops.

The district covers the east side of Clallam County with a small portion in Jefferson County.

Fire District 4

The Joyce-area Clallam County Fire District No. 4 Board of Commissioners is scheduled to meet Wednesday.

The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. at 51250 state Highway 112.
