The three Jefferson County Commissioners will discuss setting a public hearing on the proposed creation of a parks and recreation district at Kala Point when they meet Monday.
The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. in commissioner’s chambers at the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.
With a proposal to create a metropolitan parks district in East Jefferson County,
Residents of Kala Point have asked to create a parks district. They have submitted to the Jefferson County auditor a petition with 134 signatures, 25 more than what is needed to schedule a hearing.
Commissioners will consider setting a public hearing on the request for 10 a.m. Aug 5.
Items on the consent agenda include:
— An agreement to provide $2,700 in money from grants — none from the county coffers — for oil spill response and readiness, to be administered by the Northwest Straits Foundation.
— Approving a consolidated contract to administer state funds for Jefferson County Juvenile Services, with the state Department of Social and Health Services, Juvenile Justice Rehabilitation Division.
