EYE ON JEFFERSON: County to consider fees for conservation district

The three Jefferson County commissioners will conduct a public hearing on rates and charges for the county conservation district at a meeting that will begin at 9 a.m. Monday.

The meeting will be in commissioners’ chambers at the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.

The public hearing will be at 10:45 a.m. Commissioners will take public comment before deciding on a proposed system of fees to help finance the activities of the Jefferson County Conservation District.

Commissioners also will hear a report on revenue generated by state lands in the county.

Representatives of the state Department of Natural Resources will speak at 10 a.m. to tell commissioners that the 4,705 acres of state Forest Transfer and Purchase Lands generated $1.2 million in the first three quarters of 2018.

Commissioners also will consider setting a public hearing for 6 p.m. Dec. 10 at Fort Worden Commons on a proposed ordinance harmonizing the county code with the recently approved Commercial Shooting Facilities Ordinance.

On the consent agenda, commissioners will consider authorizing an additional $9,855 for a total of $29,791 for pavement marking on West Jefferson County roads.

Port Townsend city

The Port Townsend Community Task Force on city manager recruitment will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

The meeting to receive public input will be at the Cotton Building, 607 Water St.

City Manager David Timmons, the only city manager Port Townsend has had, will resident next summer. City officials expect to advertise the position early next year and are seeking public input on the characteristics preferred in the next city manager.

The Port Townsend City Council will not meet this week.

Other city committee meetings this week are:

• Parks, Recreation and Tree Advisory Board — 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, first-floor conference room, City Hall, 250 Madison St.

• Climate Action Committee — 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Cotton Building.

Port of Port Townsend

Port of Port Townsend commissioners have scheduled a business meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The meeting will be in chambers, 333 Benedict St.

No agenda was posted as of Saturday.

Quilcene schools

The Quilcene School Board will conduct a closed, executive session when it meets at 5 p.m. Thursday.

The special meeting will be at Room 9 at 294715 U.S. Highway 101.

Jefferson Healthcare

Jefferson Healthcare commissioners will conduct a public hearing on the proposed 2019 budget before considering passing it when they meet at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The commission will meet in the Victor J. Dirksen Conference Room on the first floor of 834 Sheridan St.

It also will consider approving a 1 percent property tax increase for 2019.

Commissioners will hear about implementation of the Community Health Improvement Plan.

An executive session is planned at the end of the meeting to evaluate the chief executive officer.

Development authority

The Fort Worden Public Development Authority board will consider entering into a agreement for a state audit when it meets at 9 a.m. Wednesday.

The meeting will be Room B at the Fort Worden Commons Building 210.

The board also will hear from the Port Townsend School District and the branding work group. It will consider the makers Square timeline and discuss annual board member gifts.
