EYE ON JEFFERSON: Port Townsend School Board to take input Monday on naming new elementary school

The Port Townsend School Board will take public input on the naming of the new elementary school when it meets Monday.

The special meeting will begin at 5 p.m. in Room S-11 of the Gael Stuart Building, 1610 Blaine St.

The board may then go into executive session, after which it will convene for its regular meeting at 6 p.m.

Included on the consent agenda is the approval of personnel action, financial reports and donations. Board members also will take action on student fees for the 2017-18 school year.

The Port Townsend City Council special business meeting originally scheduled for Monday has been canceled.

Port Townsend city committee meetings, which are in conference rooms at City Hall, 250 Madison St., are:

 Library Advisory Board special meeting — 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, third-floor conference room.

• Council Finance and Budget Committee — 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, third-floor conference room. The committee will discuss the Standard & Poor’s rating, 2016 year-end financials, 2017 supplemental budget and 2018 budget calendar.

 Parks, Recreation and Tree Advisory Board — 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, first-floor conference room.

 Port Townsend Arts Commission — 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, first-floor conference room.

 Civil Service Commission special meeting — 3:15 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, second-floor conference room.

• Non-Motorized Transportation Advisory Board — 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, first-floor conference room.

County commissioners

The three Jefferson County commissioners will open bids for pavement markings on Jefferson County roads when they meet Monday.

The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. in commissioners’ chambers at Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.

Items on the consent agenda include:

• A supplemental agreement in the amount of $71,277 for the engineering services of Bremerton-based Parametrix on the Olympic Discovery Trail between Old Gardiner Road and state Highway 20 in South Discovery Bay.

• A request from Country Administrator Philip Morley to approve a contract agreement for 2017 Community Services Grant Funding in the amount of $48,250 with the Jefferson Conservation District to promote conservation protections and improve water quality.

• The reappointment of Michael Smith to the Jefferson County Board of Equalization.

• Payment of vouchers/warrants and payroll warrants.

At 1:30 p.m. will be a country administrator briefing session, with miscellaneous items, the 2017 legislative session, calendar coordination and future agenda items on the docket.
