Agriculture uses and state and federal legislation will be discussed by commissioners this week in Clallam and Jefferson counties.

Clallam County commissioners

The three Clallam County commissioners will conduct a public hearing regarding a proposed accessory agriculture use ordinance during their weekly business meeting Tuesday.

The commissioners’ work session, at 9 a.m. Monday, will preview items set for action at their formal meeting, which will start at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Agenda items include:

• An agreement with the state Criminal Justice Training Commission for a $20,000 grant to implement a wellness program in the sheriff’s office.

• A resolution to authorize the closure of Olympic Hot Springs Road during the final phases of the construction of a new U.S. Highway 101 bridge across the Elwha River.

• A letter of support for a Clallam County Public Utility District No. 1 grant request for advanced metering infrastructure from the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation.

• A resolution changing the bylaws of the Conservation Futures Public Advisory Board to alter the rule regarding what constitutes a quorum.

• A presentation about Streamkeepers of Clallam County and a funding request for the organization from Joel Green, streamkeeper coordinator.

• A renewed call for proposals to provide hearing examiner services; proposals are due not later than 10 a.m. July 23.

• A letter to the city of Port Angeles changing the contact designee for matters regarding the joint public safety facility from the undersheriff to the county administrator.

• A monthly review of year to date financial performance versus the 2024 budget.

• A letter and form WS-4 to request planning assistance from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation District regarding plans to upgrade the Highland Irrigation District’s main canal.

• A resolution to provide up to $1.5 million in funding to Peninsula Housing Authority toward a 24-unit multifamily housing project at Seventh Avenue and Gales Street.

• A resolution to adopt supplemental budget appropriations.

A public hearing regarding the proposed funding of $940,000 in Opportunity Funds for the Clallam Bay/Sekiu sewer system pump station replacement project.

Jefferson County commissioners

The three Jefferson County commissioners will discuss priorities for state and federal legislation with Kelsey Hulls, Steven Wright and Paul Berendt of Strategies 360 when they meet at 9 a.m. Monday.

The hybrid meeting is at the commissioners’ chambers in the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.

Both Clallam and Jefferson counties will participate.
