Government meetings across the North Olympic Peninsula

The boards of local government agencies will meet next week on the North Olympic Peninsula. The Jefferson County commissioners have canceled this week’s meeting.

Port Angeles city

The Port Angeles City Council will hear recommendations from its opioid settlement subcommittee during a regular meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The three Clallam County commissioners will open sealed bids for the lower Dungeness River levee slope repair project and the downtown Sekiu sewer main replacement during their weekly business meeting Tuesday.

The commissioners’ work session, at 9 a.m. Monday, will preview items set for action at their formal meeting, which starts at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

• A call for bids to replace the variable air volume system in the courthouse; bids are due by 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12.

• An agreement with the Washington State Health Care Authority for $930,00o to fund a community prevention and wellness initiative to implement substance abuse disorder prevention services.

• An agreement with the state Department of Ecology for 36 crew-days of Washington Conservation Corps crews to complete the replanting in the Dungeness floodplains restoration project.

• An agreement with the Department of Social and Health Services for $2,337,520 to provide a coordinated and comprehensive state and local program of services for persons with developmental disabilities.

• An amended agreement with Norpoint Protective Services for $80,630 to continue to provide additional security at the county courthouse through Dec. 31.

• An agreement with Olympic Peninsula Humane Society for $125,000 per year to provide animal sheltering services.

• An agreement with LexisNexis for $13,020, annually, to provide software to the Sheriff’s Office to facilitate online crime reporting.

• A call for a public hearings to be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, regarding changes to the county code chapter 5.05 to reflect changes in state law expanding the allowable uses of behavioral health sales taxes.

• A call for a public hearing to be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, regarding changes to the county code chapter 5.40 to reflect changes in state law expanding the allowable uses of sales and use taxes for for public facilities in rural areas.

• A call for a public hearing to be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, regarding regarding the repeal of county code chapter 3.35 Voters’ Pamphlet.

• An agreement with the state Administrative Office of the Courts for up to $512,268 to reimburse the county for expenses related to re-sentencing and vacating sentences under the provisions of the Blake decision.

• An update on the Dungeness off-channel reservoir project from Steve Gray and Joe Donisi.

• Several agreements with the Department of Ecology regarding solid waste services.

Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners will discuss a request from Energy Northwest for support for a new nuclear power plant when they meet at 1:30 p.m. Monday.

The hybrid meeting is in the Lake Crescent boardroom at the PUD’s main office, 104 Hooker Road, Sequim.

The agenda says only that the new power plant would be on “Site 1.” News outlets report that Energy Northwest’s new reactors would be on leased land at a site adjacent to Columbia Generating Station.
