EYE ON THE PENINSULA: Clallam board to consider lodging tax applications

Meetings across the North Olympic Peninsula

Lodging tax funds, a transportation benefit district and a presentation from Peninsula Behavioral Health will be before Peninsula boards and commissions this week.

Clallam County Commissioners

The three Clallam County commissioners will consider agreements with the Hurricane Ridge Winter Sports Education Foundation for $90,000, Public Works for $100,000, Field Arts & Events Hall for $200,000 and with the Olympic Peninsula Visitor Bureau for $1 million in 2025 lodging tax funds during their weekly business meeting Tuesday.

The commissioners’ work session, at 9 a.m. Monday, will preview items set for action at their formal meeting, which will start at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

• A call for bids to be received no later than 10 a.m. Feb. 11 regarding the Clallam Bay Park ramp replacement project.

• A request for qualifications to be received no later than 10 a.m. Feb. 11 regarding 2025 architecture/courthouse security pedestrian bridge/engineering consulting services.

• Agreements with Sequim School District, Quillayute Valley School District and the Port Angeles School District for transition program services.

• An agreement with Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe for law enforcement services.

• A letter of support for a Port of Port Angeles RAISE grant application.

• A resolution authorizing action on current use assessment applications pursuant to Clallam County Code Chapter 27.08, Open Space.

• A call for a public hearing at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 28 regarding the Comprehensive Plan Map and Zoning Map amendments.

• A agreement with Washington State Association of Counties to conduct energy audits for tier 1 and 2 buildings.

• A discussion regarding county credit card limits and policies.

• A letter to the Office of the Attorney General commenting on petition to amend the model Public Records Act rules.

• A letter of support to National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration for Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe and North Olympic Salmon Coalition’s Hoko watershed restoration proposal.

• An agreement with Washington State University for drought-related outreach.

• A contract with the state Department of Health regarding the consolidated contract for public health services.

• A memorandum of understanding with the North Olympic Salmon Coalition for replacing culvert infrastructure under a county-owned public road at Johnson Creek in the Hoko-Ozette area.

• Bid award to Lakeside Industries Inc. for the Old Olympic Highway Resurfacing Project.

• Resolutions appointing members to several volunteer advisory boards and commissions and designating commissioner involvement on advisory boards.
