Meetings across Clallam and Jefferson counties

Workforce reductions and a community wildfire protection plan will be before boards and commissions on the North Olympic Peninsula this week.

Clallam County Commissioners

The three Clallam County commissioners will discuss workforce reductions at the McKinley Paper Mill during their weekly work session Monday and weekly business meeting Tuesday.

The commissioners’ work session, at 9 a.m. Monday, will preview items set for action at their formal meeting, which starts at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

• An agreement with Thomas Sherry to provide court-ordered sex offender treatment for youths.

• An agreement with Clallam Public Defenders for the provision of indigent public defense.

• A new collective bargaining agreement with the Association of Federal, State, County and Municipal Employees 1619 Managerial and Professional for the period from July 1, 2024, through Dec. 31, 2026.

• A new collective bargaining agreement with the Deputy Prosecutor’s Association for the period from July 1, 2024, through Dec. 31, 2026.

• A call for a public hearing at 10:30 a.m. July 23 regarding the mid-year budget review.

• An agreement with the state Criminal Justice Training Commission for a $20,000 grant to implement a wellness program in the sheriff’s office.

• A resolution to authorize the closure of Olympic Hot Springs Road during the final phases of the construction of a new U.S. Highway 101 bridge across the Elwha River.

• A letter of support for a Clallam County Public Utility District No. 1 grant request for advanced metering infrastructure from the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation.

• A resolution changing the bylaws of the Conservation Futures Public Advisory Board to alter the rule regarding what constitutes a quorum.
