Government meetings across the North Olympic Peninsula

The boards of local government agencies will meet next week on the North Olympic Peninsula.

Clallam County

The three Clallam County commissioners will consider an agreement with the City of Port Angeles for the management of the joint public safety facility project during their weekly work session Monday and weekly business meeting Tuesday.

The commissioners’ work session, at 9 a.m. Monday, will preview items set for action at their formal meeting, which starts at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Agenda items include:

• An amended contract with OAC Services, Inc., for $1,897,360 for a change order on the joint public safety facility project.

• A 36-month contract with Thomson Reuters Enterprise Center for $2,993.44 per month for West Proflex service for the prosecuting attorney’s office.

• A request to waive the three bid requirement and purchase 1,110 square feet of flooring for Heath and Human Services’ Forks office from Burton Flooring for $9,491.51.

• An agreement with Gary and Karen Johnson for $8,538 to purchase a permanent easement around culverts under Wisen Creek Road and replace fencing around the right-of-way.

• A request from Tracy Gudgel and Derek Adamire to move the West Elwha Trail to the west edge of their property on Wapiti Way, this request is supported by Public Works.

• An application for a Shoreline Planning Competitive Grant from the Department of Ecology to delineate the channel migration zone of the Elwha River.

• Final plat approval for a 5-space RV park near Kemp and South Brook streets in the Port Angeles urban growth area.

• An agreement with the North Olympic Regional Veterans Housing Network for an additional $40,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funding.

• A request from the Peninsula Housing Authority for an additional $200,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funding for its planned purchase of the Ox Bow Apartments in Forks; the purchase price is $1,500,000 and the authority anticipates an additional project cost of $1,049,000 in required ADA improvements and soft costs.

• Several budget revisions, budget reductions, supplemental appropriations and debatable emergencies.

• A request to waive the three bid requirement and purchase 65 linear feet of chain link fencing for the Harm Reduction Center at 325½ Second St. from Rainbow Sweepers for $5,440.

• Several resolutions appointing or reappointing members of various volunteer boards and commissions,

• A no cost contract extension with the Washington Water Trust through December 31, 2024, for work on the Dungeness off-channel reservoir project.

• Final plat approval for the Peninsula Housing Authority’s Eklunds Heights 3 and 4 subdivisions in Gales Addition.

The commissioners will hear an update on the Olympic Discovery Trail from Jeff Bohman and will hear a report on Department of Ecology sustainable development grant opportunities that may help mitigate several overlapping hazards in Brinnon.

Items on the consent agenda include an E911 grant from the state Military Department for JeffCOM 911; an agreement with the city of Port Townsend for $7,000 to clean up the Evans Vista homeless encampment; an agreement with the Jefferson Land Trust for $7,000 to create accessibility at Illahee Preserve; and agreements with Olympic Community Action Programs for an additional $40,000 in Affordable Housing/Homelessness Grant Funding to operate an emergency shelter and an additional $87,000 in Community Development Block Grant funding.

Association of counties

The Washington State Association of Counties will hear a weekly update on COVID-19 when they meet at noon Monday.

Both Clallam and Jefferson counties will participate.
