EYE ON THE PENINSULA: Meetings planned for Clallam, Jefferson Counties

Clallam County Commissioners

The three Clallam County commissioners will consider an agreement with Welfare of Animals Guild for animal sheltering needs during their weekly work session Monday.

The commissioners’ work session, at 9 a.m. Monday, will preview items set for action at their formal meeting, which starts at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The commissioners also will conduct 2025 budget meetings with the county administrator, chief finance officer, deputy CFO, budget coordinator and various department heads on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

• An amended agreement with the state Department of Health for an additional $19,173 in funding for the county’s Women, Infant and Children program for a total thus far in 2024 of $1,191,112.

• A resolution to authorize execution of a special services contract with Duncan Fobes of the law firm of Patterson, Buchanan, Fobes & Leitch regarding the provision of specified legal services related to the provision of coroner services within the county.

• Request to waive Bid/RFP/quote requirements for costs of procuring and delivery of furniture for the old Law Library suite.

• Resolutions for budget revisions and supplemental appropriations and a call for a public hearing at 10:30 Tuesday, Oct. 29, regarding debatable budget emergencies.

• Agreement with Washington State Military Department and State 911 Funds for $138,421 for capital equipment purchases for PenCom.

• Memorandum of understanding with OUR Rescue to purchase equipment to assist the Sheriff’s Office detective bureau with investigations of child trafficking.

• A letter to the Washington Supreme Court opposing proposed amendments to the adopted standards of public defense.

• An agreement with Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe for $87,221 to expand Olympia oyster populations in Sequim Bay.

• A resolution authorizing an expenditure of $1,980 from the Clallam County Heritage Grant Fund to the North Olympic History Center.

• A proposed update the Housing Solutions Committee’s bylaws.

• An amended agreement with Sargent Engineers, Inc., for an additional $6,954 for work on the Little Quilcene River Bridge replacement; the total is now $529,258.
