EYE ON THE PENINSULA: Parks to host open house on Fort Worden transition

Meetings across the North Olympic Peninsula.

Opportunity funds, a transportation benefit district and the management transition of Fort Worden State Park will be discussed by Peninsula boards and commissions this week.

Clallam County Commissioners

The three Clallam County commissioners will discuss a request for $800,000 in opportunity funds for the Clallam Economic Development Council to match a potential $4 million in federal economic adjustment assistance grants during their weekly work session Monday.

The commissioners’ work session, at 9 a.m. Monday, will preview items set for action at their formal meeting, which will start at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The commissioners will discuss the purchase or sale of real estate in executive session during a special meeting at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

• A resolution authorizing the expenditure of $5,700 from the hotel/motel tax fund for the Peninsula Trails Coalition.

• A call for a public hearing at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 15 regarding amending Ordinance 826 to expand the water utility franchise to the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe for use of county roads.

• Agreement with the state Department of Agriculture for a $48,937.43 food assistance grant.

• An update on the Clallam Conservation District from Ken Williams.

• Resolutions for budget revisions and supplemental appropriations and a public hearing regarding debatable budget emergencies.
